South Shore Fire Station Task Force – Full Speed Ahead! Update #6

“Full Speed Ahead!!”  Assistant Fire Chief Kristine Artman, Task Force Chair Chris Durkee, and Management Analyst Quin Brunner presented the Task Force’s key findings and recommendations to a warm and encouraging Council last night.  An enthusiastic audience of Task Force members, firefighters, Neighborhood Association board members and community members lent their support as well.

The City Council indicated their support to proceed with the Task Force’s two recommendations for the next phase of work:

  1. First, engage an architect to develop preliminary plans for a new South Shore Fire Station.  


    Then, engage a cost consultant or builder to develop a more detailed cost estimate based on these preliminary plans, and price the cost savings alternates.

  2. And second, direct staff to further develop the community engagement plan and execute the early phases of that plan as appropriate.
